A tabletop dispensary you can hold in your hands
We designed Vorexalin around the quiet ritual of an old apothecary: measuring, labelling, and trading with a steady hand. Every component is built to feel like it belongs on a laboratory shelf.

Turn raw reagents into rare elixirs
Start each game with a modest herb cabinet and three empty vials. Combine reagents, unlock recipe tiles, and build a distilling engine that compounds in value every round. No two cabinets ever end up the same.

Set your price, then defend it
The amber-glass market shifts on every player turn. Buy low on saffron root, corner the supply of powdered myrrh, and force rivals to pay your premium — or watch them undercut you at the trading post.

Weighty vials, letterpress labels, linen box
Each copy ships with 42 resin elixir vials, a screen-printed brewing board, and 120 letterpress recipe cards in a linen-wrapped box. The rulebook is printed on uncoated stock and reads like a genuine apothecary manual.
Four phases, one steady rhythm
A round of Vorexalin moves through four clear phases. New players are usually running their own dispensary confidently by the end of the first game.
Gather reagents
Draw from the shared reagent market or forage from your herb cabinet. Plan two turns ahead — the ingredients you skip are the ones your rival will grab.
Distil a formula
Spend reagents to complete a recipe tile. Each finished elixir goes into an amber vial and adds a permanent bonus to your distilling engine.
Trade at the post
Set your asking price, negotiate openly, and either sell your vials for coin or hold them for the end-game bonus. Timing is everything.
Score the ledger
When the recipe deck runs out, tally coins, shelved elixirs, and completed commissions in the ledger. The most accomplished apothecary wins.
Built to be replayed
Modular boards, hidden commissions, and a deep recipe tree mean each session tells a different story. Explore what is in the box.

A dispensary that reshapes every game
The brewing board is assembled from six interlocking tiles. Swap them before setup for a fresh market layout, tighter reagent supply, or a longer, more strategic session.
- Six double-sided board tiles
- Three official setups: Novice, Guild, and Master
- Solo variant with an automated rival deck
What the table says
From weekly games groups to Melbourne board-game cafés, here is how Vorexalin has been landing since launch.
The trading phase is ruthless in the best way. We finished our first game and immediately reset for a second — the amber vials alone are worth the shelf space.

I run a café off Gertrude Street and Vorexalin is the box people ask for by name. Teaching it takes five minutes and the theme just clicks with people.

The component quality is genuinely lovely. The letterpress rulebook feels like an heirloom and the recipe tree keeps opening up game after game.

My partner and I play the two-player variant most weeknights. Sixty minutes, tight decisions, and a different market every time. Exactly what we wanted.

The solo automa deck surprised me. It is a proper opponent, not an afterthought, and it made lockdown games nights actually fun again.

We picked it up at the Smith Street studio open day. Loved chatting to the designers, and the game has been on our table every fortnight since.

A full game runs about 60 minutes for experienced players and up to 90 the first time through. The core rules take roughly five minutes to teach, and a two-page quick-start card walks first-timers through their opening turns.
The base box plays 2 to 5 players and includes a dedicated solo variant with an automated rival deck. The two-player mode uses a tightened market so the trading tension stays high even head-to-head.
Every box includes 42 resin amber vials, six double-sided board tiles, 92 illustrated recipe cards, five alchemist meeples, a coin set, and a letterpress rulebook — all packed in a linen-wrapped box with a foam insert.
The Apothecary Box is AUD $89, and the deluxe Master Edition with metal coins is AUD $129. Reserve a copy through the contact form below and we will confirm stock and local pick-up from our Fitzroy studio or postage within Australia.
Yes. Our Smith Street studio runs open play sessions every second Saturday from 11am to 4pm. Drop us a message to book a table — demo copies are always set up and ready to teach.
We recommend ages 12 and up because of the market and negotiation layer, though younger players who enjoy strategy games do well with the Novice setup. There are no fiddly small parts beyond the vials.
